Coconut Dry Chutney

Ingredients:

Grated coconut     -  1 full coconut
Bengal gram dal    -  4 - 5 table spoons
Black gram dal      -  4 - 5 table spoons
Red Chillies           -  6 - 8 medium sized
Asafoitida              -  1 tea spoon
Cooking oil            -  1 table spoon
Salt to taste

1.  Heat oil in a kadai.
2.  Add the 2 dals and chillies and fry till they turn into light  brown.
3.  Remove the dal from stove and add the coconut to the kadai.
4.  Keep stirring till it changes its colour to light pink.
5.  Now add the fried dals and chilles and further keep stirring for another 2 - 3 mins.
6.  Remove from stove and allow it to cool.
7.  Add salt and asafoitida and dry grind the whole mixture into coarse powder.
8.  Coconut dry chutney ready.
9.  It goes well with rice and kitchidi.  Add a little ghee while eating.
