Ingredients:
Orange peels - from 2 oranges
Black gram dal - 3 table spoons
Red chillies - 4 nos
Garlic - 4 -5 pearls
Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
Asafoitida - 1 pinch
Cooking oil - 1 table spoon
Salt to taste
1. Wash and finely chop the orange peels.
2. Soak the tamarind in warm water.
3. Heat half table spoon of oil in a kadai and add the orange peels.
4. Once the orange cooks remove from kadai and add the balance oil and add the black gram dal and red chillies.
5. Once the dal turns golden brown add the garlic and asafoitida.
6. After 2 mins remove from kadai and add to the fried orange peel.
7. Take the fried mixture, tamarind and salt and grind coarsely.
8. Orange peel chutney ready. It tastes slightly bitter but goes very well with hot rice and ghee.
