Tamarind paste(Pulikkaichal)

Ingredients: 

Tamarind              -  1 Big apple size
Red chillies           -  8 - 10 nos
Coriander seeds    -  1 table spoon
Bengal gram dal     -  1 table spoon
Fenugreek seeds    -  1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds       -  1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder   -  1 tea spoon
Salt to taste.
Cooking oil            -  1 table spoon

1.  Soad tamarind and red chillies in little water for 1 hr.
2.  Grind it into a thick paste add little or no water.
3.  Heat kadai and dry fry coriander seeds, bengal gram dal and fenugreek seeds and make it into a powder.
4.  Heat oil in the kadai and add the mustard seeds.
5.  Once it crackles add the ground paste salt and turmeric powder.
6.  Keep stirring and cook till the tamarind smell goes off and its cooked.
7.  Pulikkacchal ready.  This is the main ingredient for Tamarind rice.
